La revista especializada Colorectal Disease ha publicado recientemente nuevos resultados del estudio multicéntrico internacional sobre cirugía y covid-19, el llamado CovidSurg, en el cual participa el Dr. Pablo Collera, miembro del Gastrointestinal Oncology, Endoscopy and Surgery research group (GOES) y jefe de servicio de Cirugía general de Althaia, entre otros profesionales del servicio. El artículo lleva por título The impact of surgical delay on resectability of colorectal cancer: An international prospective cohort study.
La investigación, que ha incluido 5.453 pacientes de 304 hospitales de 47 países, ha permitido constatar que la demora quirúrgica del cáncer de colon a consecuencia de la pandemia no ha comprometido el procedimiento ni el índice de supervivencia del paciente. El CovidSurg está formado por centros de más de 120 países y tiene por objetivo evaluar el impacto de la covid en la eficacia y seguridad de los procedimientos quirúrgicos. La colaboración del GOES con el CovidSurg destaca por su altísima producción científica. Desde el estallido de la pandemia y hasta fecha de hoy, el Dr. Collera y otros investigadores de los servicios de Cirugía General y del Aparato Digestivo y de Cirugía Ortopédica y Traumatología de la Fundación Althaia han participado en una quincena de artículos, la inmensa mayoría publicados en revistas de primer cuartil y con un factor de impacto acumulado de 231,011 y más de 1.000 citaciones acumuladas.
Destacan principalmente las publicaciones en The Lancet, The Lancet Oncology y Journal of Clinical Oncology, revistas de gran relevancia en el campo de la Medicina y la Oncología y con un factor de impacto todas ellas por encima de 40.
