Dr Güell has worked as a surgeon at Althaia, Xarxa Assistencial Universitària de Manresa since 2001. She specializes in gastroesophageal surgery.
Güell is currently working towards a PhD on the Medicine and Biomedical Sciences programme at the Universitat de Vic-Universitat Central de Catalunya under the supervision of Dr Puig and Dr Xuriguera. She studies materials engineering, and is currently engaged in finding a 3D printable biomaterial for mesh configuration in large abdominal wall defects.
Mercè is a devoted long-distance runner, and she loves visiting big cities and competing in marathons.
