The Generalitat de Catalunya has recently recognized the Gastrointestinal Oncology, Endoscopy and Surgery research group as an emerging research group in the latest call SGR-Cat 2021 (Research Group Support), which has just published its resolution. Obtaining accreditation allows GOES to have access to apply for a higher level of calls both for projects and for the incorporation of research talent.
The SGR calls announced by the Generalitat de Catalunya, through the Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR), support groups that carry out research in Catalonia in different scientific areas. This programme aims to promote the activity of research groups and their scientific, economic, and social impact and promote the international projection of their research.
GOES, coordinated by Dr. Ignasi Puig, focuses on research, innovation, and dissemination of knowledge in gastrointestinal oncology, endoscopy, and surgery. Its main lines of research include the detection, characterisation, and treatment of colorectal lesions and the diagnosis of early colorectal cancer. The aim is to deepen knowledge and apply tools and treatments to improve healthcare practice, which, as a result, will directly impact patients. You can find all the information about our activity in the sections Lines of research and Projects on the website.
It should be noted that, before official recognition, the research group was already accredited internally by the Fundació Althaia, which used the same evaluation criteria as the Generalitat.
