The GOES research group actively participated in the congress of the Spanish Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SEED) recently held in A Coruña.
Dr. Marco Antonio Álvarez, head of the Digestology Department at Althaia and research group member, was a member of the scientific committee that evaluated the finalist studies for the FSEED grants and moderated the defence of posters from the lower gastrointestinal endoscopy section. He also presented to the audience of the SEED 2022 an endoscopic case of submucosal dissection technique for potentially malignant lesions and a poster on the approach using the POEM technique of a case of achalasia plus oropharyngeal dysphasia.
Dr. Ignasi Puig, the coordinator of GOES, moderated a symposium on the application of artificial intelligence to colorectal cancer detection programmes, which was one of the main events of the congress. He also moderated a session of oral communications.
Additionally, Doctor Puig presented two communications led by the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona: an oral presentation on the pre-treatment staging of PT1 rectal cancer and a poster on the use of tattooing in stage T1 rectal cancer and its implications in surgery. Moreover, in the framework of the meeting of the Endocar group (group specialised in the characterisation of polyps) of the SEED 2022, he presented an update of the LODIP study, a clinical trial led by Althaia and funded by La Marató de TV3.
