Dr. Salazar is a Radiology specialist and currently serves as Head of the Diagnostic Imaging Service at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu de Manresa since 2021. He also provides radiology services at Hospital de Berga, delivering conventional radiology, CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, and interventional procedures to a reference population of approximately 280,000 inhabitants.
He obtained his medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and completed his Radiology residency at Hospital Universitario Vall d’Hebron. He has developed extensive expertise in breast imaging and interventional radiology, with experience in leading national and international institutions and population-based breast cancer screening programs.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Senology and Breast Pathology (University of Barcelona) and a PhD in Medicine (Autonomous University of Barcelona), as well as postgraduate training in healthcare leadership and management, including a Strategic Vision and Medical Leadership program and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management (ESADE).
His research focuses on population-based screening programs and the implementation of new technologies in radiology, particularly the application of artificial intelligence in breast, prostate, and lung cancer screening. He is part of the research team of the European PRAISE-U project, aimed at developing prostate cancer screening models using MRI and image-guided biopsy.
He is also actively involved in teaching as coordinator of the Radiology residency training program.
Outside the professional setting, Juan Pablo is passionate about space and space exploration. In his free time, he enjoys sharing his passion for water polo with his children and taking care of his dog and his two cats.
