Dr. Serra is a specialist in General and Digestive Surgery, with a particular focus on coloproctology, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic floor disorders.
She obtained her medical degree from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and completed her residency in General and Digestive Surgery at Hospital Universitari Parc Taulí. She later earned a PhD in Medicine with a thesis on early discharge protocols in mild acute pancreatitis. She has further specialized in hepatobiliary surgery, coloproctology, robotic surgery, and pelvic floor disorders.
Since 2014, she has worked as a specialist surgeon, initially at Hospital Universitari Parc Taulí and, since 2021, at Fundació Althaia, where she is part of the coloproctology unit. She has contributed to the development of clinical pathways in inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic floor disorders.
Her research activity focuses on clinical studies in acute diverticulitis, mild acute pancreatitis, and colorectal surgery, with publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences. She is also involved in teaching and is an associate professor at the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia
Sheila greatly enjoys sports, especially outdoors. She loves reading and leads a book club, and she also enjoys cooking and spending time playing with his two daughters, with whom she shares a love of books.
